Desert Edge Mobility Plan for the Coachella Valley
Goal of the Plan
The Plan is a comprehensive guide and framework for improving the community’s active transportation infrastructure. With the support and guidance of Desert Edge’s community members, the Plan includes active transportation improvement recommendations in the following categories:
• Pedestrian improvements that enhance the comfort and accessibility of walking and using mobility devices.
• Bicycle improvements that introduce safety-minded, comfortable bicycle travel routes.
• ADA accessibility improvements that improve mobility by installing sidewalks and curb ramps for those who use mobility devices.
• Safe Routes to School improvements that improve connections for families and students who attend schools located outside of Desert Edge, such as:
- Julius Corsini Elementary School
- Della Lindley Elementary School
- Desert Springs Middle School
- Desert Hot Springs High School
In addition, the Plan provides a list of possible funding sources that County of Riverside Transportation Department can pursue to fund the improvements outlined in the Plan. In summary, the Plan will serve as the cornerstone for improving safety and mobility in Desert Edge.
