Mobility Plans for the Unincorporated Communities of the Eastern Coachella Valley
The Riverside County Transportation Department (RCTD) has prepared the following mobility plans,
- Regional Mobility Plan for the Unincorporated Communities of the Eastern Coachella Valley
- Neighborhood Mobility Plan for the Communities of North Shore and Mecca
- Neighborhood Mobility Plan for the Communities of Thermal and Oasis
The neighborhood plans serve as a blueprint for future transportation planning within the unincorporated communities of Thermal, Oasis, Mecca and North Shore in the Eastern Coachella Valley. The regional plan builds on the planning efforts at the neighborhood scale and considers mobility for the region, connecting the communities to each other and to the broader Coachella Valley. All three plans should be considered in conjunction with one another.
The goals of these Plans are to:
- Promote multi-modal mobility at both the regional and neighborhood scales
- Equitably increase bicyclist and pedestrian safety
- Promote shared mobility and transit use
- Improve communication between transit agencies, stakeholders, and community members and organizations
- Enhance public health and environmental justice
- Decrease greenhouse gas emissions
To achieve these goals, the Plans proposes a long-term, flexible and comprehensive network of multi-use infrastructure that connect residents to key community facilities, such as commercial corridors, schools and clinics. Since this network will take many years to complete, the Plans include a phasing approach for near-term and long-term improvements.
